Our principal and staff

The Parkes High School team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.

Welcome from our principal

“Welcome to Parkes High School. Our school is located on the lands of the Wiradjuri people, and we pay our respects to Elders; past and present, we extend that respect to all Aboriginal people. I have confidence that the oldest culture on earth is in safe hands when I talk to our young Aboriginal students today.

At Parkes High School every student has:

  • the opportunity for academic excellence, leadership development and social responsibility.
  • access to outstanding, exciting and diverse education programs that challenge and inspire minds.
  • contact with challenging and diverse learning experiences that inspire lifelong learning and opportunities for success.
Mrs Sandra Carter is our School Principal
  • experienced and dedicated teaching staff who are all accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority, providing individual learning pathways that cater for their need and talents.
  • access to specialist High Potential and Gifted Education programs, Learning and Support teachers, Transition and Careers Advisors, School Psychologists, Student Support Officers and our School Chaplain.
  • parents and carers who are valued partners in their education and achievements of the school.
  • strong partnerships with our wider Parkes community who continually support our students with work experience, work placements and the School Transition Employment Program (STEP).

Parkes High School staff engage with students to make real connections with the rapidly changing world using transferable and enduring skills. Our motivated and skilled learners are equipped with resilience, knowledge, skills and deep understanding to participate and succeed in local and global communities. Parkes High School staff are committed to supporting student wellbeing and achieving excellence in teaching and learning. Parkes High School students actively volunteer with the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) at Parkes Airport and undertake training through the Rural Fire Service Cadet Program supporting them to be active and informed citizens in our community.

As the Principal of Parkes High School, and on behalf of our students and staff, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our school and to be part of this safe, respectful and responsible learning environment."
